Submitted by Sameer Segal (@sameersegal) on Monday, 7 November 2011

Section: UI and Design Technical level: Intermediate Session type: Workshop

Abstract

Understand how you can create custom complex views with your own attributes for your apps. Do everything with the layout xml rather than writing java code in the activities. This is how Artoo creates apps in the cloud.

Outline

We will create a custom Edit Text with error validation abilities using regex and a form with mandatory fields, without writing anything in the activity.

We will create a complex view for capturing an image and showing its preview as one widget (again no activity code!)

Requirements

Computer with Eclipse and Android SDK environment setup
